The 4 in. Remodel Can Recessed Light is a drop-in upgrade for existing recessed can lights. It includes a Light Module and trim — everything you need to replace an old fixture without replacing the housing. Available in Standard (exposed trim), Adjustable (gimbal), Trimless (mud-in), and Trimless Adjustable styles.
Who is the 4 in. Remodel Can Recessed Light for?
Homeowners and contractors who already have recessed cans installed and want to upgrade to modern, high-quality LED lighting without replacing the housing. It is the fastest, lowest-cost way to improve an existing fixture.
Does this product come with a housing?
No. The Remodel Can Recessed Light is designed to install into an existing can. If you are doing new construction or need a new housing, consider the 4 in. New Construction Recessed Light, which includes a housing.
Which existing cans is it compatible with?
The kit fits most standard 4" and 6" recessed cans. If your existing can uses an Edison (E26) or GU24 socket instead of an IDEAL connector, add the appropriate socket adapter to your order.
What style options are available?
Four styles: Standard (exposed trim ring, installs without drywall work), Adjustable / Gimbal (tiltable beam, exposed trim), Trimless / Mud-In (flangeless finish, requires drywall finishing), and Trimless Adjustable (flangeless + tiltable). Standard is the fastest to install; Trimless styles deliver a seamless, architectural look.
What shapes and finishes are available?
Round, Square, and Curved shapes in White and Black. The 4 in. size offers the widest shape selection. Check the product page for current in-stock style and finish combinations.
How does the Standard style install?
Remove the old trim and bulb. Connect the IDEAL connector from your can to the module, snap the module up into the can, then twist the trim ring to lock it in place. No wiring changes, no tools, typically under 5 minutes per fixture.
How does the Trimless style install?
Connect the module to your existing can (add a socket adapter if needed). The mud-in frame sets around the aperture and is finished flush with joint compound — standard drywall finishing applies. No housing replacement is needed.
Is there a tilt option?
Yes. Adjustable and Trimless Adjustable styles include a tiltable inner ring for accent or directional lighting. Standard and Trimless styles are fixed orientation.
Is the 4 in. Remodel Can Recessed Light dimmable?
Yes. The included module is fully dimmable with any LED-rated dimmer.
Is the module replaceable?
Yes. The module snaps out and swaps independently — housing, wiring, and trim stay in place.
How does it compare to Opti's other 4 in. products?
The 4 in. Remodel Can Recessed Light reuses your existing housing — no housing replacement, done in minutes for Standard style. The 4 in. Canless Recessed Light goes into an existing housing without including a new one. The 4 in.
