A complete 3-inch recessed lighting kit designed for new construction and open-ceiling projects. The rail housing mounts directly to ceiling framing before drywall, making it ideal for new builds, additions, and major renovations where access to the joists is available.

Each kit includes the new construction housing with adjustable hanger bars, OPTI LED module, face ring trim, TRIAC-compatible driver, and mounting hardware. Available in Round, Square, and Curved profiles with Standard, Adjustable, Trimless, and Trimless Adjustable styles in Matte White or Matte Black, the system is IC-rated, air-tight for Title 24 compliance, and designed with a swappable LED module for future service without disturbing the housing or wiring.

What is the 3 in. New Construction Can Recessed Light and what does it include?
The 3 in. New Construction Can Recessed Light is a complete recessed lighting kit for new builds and full housing replacements. It includes a housing, Light Module, and trim — everything in one box. Available in Standard (exposed trim), Adjustable (gimbal), Trimless (mud-in), and Trimless Adjustable styles. Round and Curved shapes are available at 3 in.
What housing types are available?
Both Remodel and New Construction housing options are available. Remodel housing installs into existing drywall without attic access. New Construction housing attaches to bar hangers during framing, before drywall goes up.
What style options are available?
Four styles: Standard (exposed trim ring, no drywall finishing required), Adjustable / Gimbal (tiltable beam, exposed trim), Trimless / Mud-In (flangeless finish, requires drywall finishing), and Trimless Adjustable (flangeless + tiltable). Standard and Adjustable are faster to finish; Trimless styles deliver a seamless, architectural ceiling look.
What shapes and finishes are available?
Round and Curved shapes in White and Black. Square is not available in the 3 in. size.
Is there a tilt option?
Yes. Adjustable and Trimless Adjustable styles allow you to aim the beam at artwork or architectural features. Standard and Trimless styles are fixed orientation.
How does the 3 in. New Construction Can Recessed Light install?
For new construction: secure the bar hangers to ceiling joists during framing, then drop in the housing. For remodel: the housing clips into a cutout in existing drywall from below — no attic access needed. The module snaps into the housing. For Standard/Adjustable styles the trim ring twists to lock; for Trimless styles the mud-in frame is finished flush with joint compound. Housing wiring should be performed by a licensed electrician.
Do I need an electrician?
Yes for the initial housing wiring. Module swaps after that are DIY-friendly. See our FAQ for a full breakdown by install scenario.
Is the module replaceable?
Yes. The module snaps out and swaps independently — housing, wiring, and trim stay in place.
Is it dimmable?
Yes. The included module is fully dimmable with any LED-rated dimmer.
